Private Consultation for Mental Health Professionals

Patricia has been in the field of mental health for over 10+ years and has worked within various settings including non-profit organizations, corporate/managed care, and private practice. She has been a virtual/online therapist since 2017 and expanded her group practice, Alvarado Therapy in 2020.
Her expertise includes trauma, PTSD, anxiety, stress, relationships, and life transitions. She is an EMDR Certified Therapist and an EMDRIA approved EMDR Consultant in Training (CIT). This experience has allowed her to conceptualize clinical concerns while creating insight surrounding clinical decisions.

Thank you for your interest in working towards EMDR Certification with me. I am an EMDRIA approved Consultant in Training (CIT) and specialize in trauma and complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, stress, relationships, and life transitions. I provide EMDR services virtually and work with clinicians who provide both in-person and virtual EMDR.
I offer private and semi-private consultation which will ultimately meet your 20 hour certification requirement. Semi-private consultation is a great way to save on consultation costs while decreasing the pressure of having to speak for a full hour on your cases.
Both private consultation and semi-private consultation is done via video appointment.
Instructions on how to connect will be provided after the consultation is scheduled. Face to face private and/or semi private consultation can be arranged with me in advance. Rates for face to face consultation will be at a higher rate. Please contact me if you are in the Los Angeles area and wish to have face to face consultation.
Please note: If you are the only one signed up for a semi-private consultation, you will need to pay the difference of $35. My hope is that this will rarely occur.
For EMDR Certification, you need 20 hours, 10 of those must be individual (semi-private count as half group, half individual) and the rest can be in group or individual. While I can provide consultation for 15 of your 20 hours, my recommendation is completing 10 hours with me and the remaining 10 hours with an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. The last consultation will need to be with an EMDRIA Approved Consultant which I can also recommend. You must be a licensed mental health professional at the time that you decide to apply for certification and have completed all the certification requirements.

Group consultation is a great way to listen to others’ experience and gain valuable insight on how to manage EMDR cases. I offer group consultation which will ultimately meet your 20 hour certification requirement.
If you are only interested in consulting about your EMDR cases (hours do not count towards certification), the rate is $35 for 1-hour of consultation.
If you are working towards EMDR certification, the rate is $50 for 1-hour of consultation.

Please note that this is consultation and not clinical supervision. Also, semi-private and private certification consultation are for those working towards becoming a Certified EMDR Therapist. These are different from those that you have done as part of your EMDR training, typically 10 hours. Unlike the consultation calls you have completed within Basic Training, you will need to have cases that you want to discuss to include but not limited to challenges, target planning, EMDR phases, etc. To fully become certified, please refer to the EMDRIA website (emdria.org) to see the full list of requirements for certification.

Peer clinical consultation is important to have, especially if you find yourself within a private practice setting. I can recognize that during our clinical training working towards licensure, we were offered many opportunities for case consultation, from our supervisors and peers. Within private practice, that option may no longer be available.
Due to this, I am offering one on one peer clinical consultation for those that are curious about how to manage cases, are wondering how else they may be able to support their clients, and want to discuss potential clinical implications that may arise.

I have also volunteered on the suicide prevention hotline which allowed me to further my knowledge in crisis intervention. I have experience working with clients who are Victims of Crime per the state of California and I actively conduct Immigration Evaluations.

Within my experience both as a licensed and unlicensed mental health provider, I have had the opportunity to work within private practice. It can be difficult to navigate the ins and outs of opening a private practice and my hope is that the potential overwhelm that may be present will not deter you from following your heart and opening up your own practice. It’s been an incredible journey opening and growing my own practice.

Through private practice coaching, I will be sharing what has worked for me and what has not worked. I create space to share where to begin or the challenges that you have had within your own practice. We create a plan of what needs to be done and establish realistic goals to help you meet your needs. Coaching can be provided on a one time basis or recurring meeting, depending on your needs.
