Patricia Alvarado - EMDR therapist

Are you experiencing persistent distress that impacts your ability to live the life you deserve?

Do you struggle to regulate your emotions due to overwhelming stress and anxiety? Are your relationships affected by traumatic experiences and intrusive thoughts?

People grappling with trauma, complex trauma, PTSD, and chronic stress often experience overwhelming emotions, intrusive memories, and persistent anxiety that disrupt their daily lives. These struggles can lead to difficulties with life transitions, strained relationships, and a pervasive sense of helplessness or hypervigilance.

Individual Counseling provides a safe environment to explore thoughts and emotions, understand challenges, and develop coping strategies using approaches like CBT and other modalities, with the ultimate goal of empowering clients to enhance their well-being.

EMDR Therapy offers a structured approach to reprocess traumatic memories, alleviating distress, and fostering healing.

What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a treatment approach that has been widely validated by research to treat post-traumatic stress, panic attacks, phobias, anxiety disorders, sexual and physical abuse, disturbing memories, additions, and complicated grief.

EMDR is a late‐stage trauma resolution modality that currently has more scientific research for treatment of trauma than any other non‐pharmaceutical intervention. EMDR has proven to be an efficacious and rapid method of reprocessing traumatic material. Research on other applications of EMDR is now in progress.

EMDR is a simple but efficient therapy using bilateral stimulation (BLS) tapping, auditory tones or eye movements to accelerate the brain’s capacity to process and heal a troubling memory. BLS, which occurs naturally during dream sleep, causes the two brain parts to work together to reintegrate the memory. Some clients experience relief or positive effects in just a few sessions. EMDR is effective in alleviating trauma-related symptoms, whether the traumatic event occurred many years ago or yesterday. It gives desired results –with little talking, without using drugs, and requires no “homework” between sessions.

EMDR Therapy can be safely done both in-person and online.

EMDR Intensives

We also offer EMDR intensives, which are extended and concentrated sessions of EMDR therapy that are conducted over a shorter period of time than traditional weekly sessions.

Instead of spreading therapy out over several weeks or months, intensives involve multiple sessions scheduled closely together, often over the course of several consecutive days or a weekend.
